Business Ombudsmen of Kazakhstan and Georgia sign MoU on improving business environment

The Business Ombudsman of Kazakhstan Bolat Palymbetov and Business Ombudsman of Georgia Irakli Lekvinadze held a ceremony during the 3rd International Conference on Competition Policy: Competition Law and Policy Enforcement in Regulated Sectors for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish International cooperation at a new level.

The MoU aims at establishing a practical framework to enhance the bilateral cooperation in protecting the rights of entrepreneurs and joint, coordinated actions to improve the business climate.

It also provides for legal advice in the proper application of national legislation, participation in scientific conferences, seminars, and other events.

Kazakh entrepreneurs do business in many countries and Kazakhstan cooperates with many countries around the world.

According to the statistics of Kazakhstan, the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Georgia for 2018 amounted to 87 million dollars, which is 34.6% more than in 2017 (64.6 million U.S. dollars). 

 "We are interested in expanding our relationship. We look forward to fruitful cooperation in protecting the rights of entrepreneurs.

I am convinced that cooperation between the Business Ombudsmen of Georgia and Kazakhstan will contribute to the development of business and economic relations, create favorable conditions for doing business in Georgia and Kazakhstan," Bolat Palymbetov said.

In turn, Irakli Lekvinadze noted the existence of a good platform in the bilateral work.

"Economic relations between Kazakhstan and Georgia are dynamic, Kazakh business is active in Georgia, respectively, Georgian business is active in Kazakhstan. We assume that the present  memorandum and active communication between the business Ombudsmen of Georgia and Kazakhstan will further strengthen the business position between the two countries," Business Ombudsman of Georgia said.

Remind that the Business Ombudsman of Kazakhstan signed an agreement on mutual assistance and cooperation with business ombudsmen of Russia and Uzbekistan. Joint efforts of the three countries have already protected the rights of several business entities.
