- In Kazakhstan, the number of bribe-takers has decreased by a quarter. This was reported by the Deputy Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service and Anti-Corruption Affairs Alik Shpekbayev at a meeting of the Government of RK, the correspondent of MIA Kazinform reports.

"According to the results of the" World Transparency International's Barometer of Global Corruption" conducted by Transparency International in Kazakhstan, compared with the results of three years ago, the share of citizens who witnessed the process in the sphere of combating corruption increased twofold. The number of people giving bribes decreased by a quarter. Similar results are shown by the results of the study "Business Climate-2016", conducted by the order of NCE "Atameken", as well as the results of the poll of the Institute "Public Opinion", - Alik Shpekbayev said.

According to him, the distinctive feature of the new anti-corruption policy of the state is the shift in emphasis on the prevention of corruption. For the first time, such prevention institutes as anticorruption monitoring, analysis and elimination of corruption risks were introduced.

A number of measures are being taken to ensure the anti-corruption education and education of the population, and to create an atmosphere of absolute rejection of corruption.

Alik Shpekbayev also noted that the state does not intend to weaken the institution of criminal prosecution for corruption offenses. Because the inevitability of punishment for unlawful acts is not only the principle of the rule of law, but also an indicator of ensuring social justice.
